Softrok Tips
1) Using Softrok to hide a baseboard join (by Peter Marriot)

Joins in the baseboards can mar the viewing appearance of a layout but there are some things that can be done to hide them. One method is to use Softrok that is a reusable modelling material. An MLC Scenic Product powder needs to be mixed with water and the supplied adhesive into a paste that can then be pressed onto the landscape. It remains workable for about 24 hours and even when dry it’s rather like hardfoam that is not fully rigid. The product is sold in a variety of colours so that any chipped pieces do not show too much. Its real value for hiding baseboard joins is that after Softrok dries it can be reworked with water. So on arrival at an exhibition hall once the layout is assembled a little water can be applied to the Softrok that has been applied along the baseboard joins and it will be workable enough to spread over the joint. At the end of the show either cut it with a sharp knife or carefully prise apart the baseboards. At the next show the process starts again! Softrok is available in the UK from The Model Landscape Company
