NUREMBERG 2011 TOY FAIR NEWS
Taking the tried and tested route flying Air Berlin from Stansted direct to Nuremberg meant arriving only 7 hours after leaving home. What I didnt realise was that from 7th February (whilst I was at the fair), Air Berlin would cease flying direct between these two destinations. This meant that the return flight would be Nuremberg to Dusseldorf then Dusseldorf to Stansted, adding around 1.5 hours to the return trip. Still the flights were good.
Whilst in Nuremberg, popped into the Nuremberg Transport Museum as well and this is well worth a visit. Also did brief tour of the "Altstadt" with my German friends, going to the 15th Century Castle with breathtaking views across the city. A visit to Eisenbahn Dorfler was much enjoyed, coming away with some bargains. Definitely go see this "Aladdins Cave" of model railways if you ever visit Nuremberg
The fair was as large as ever and the new Messe entrance with its giant wing around 100metres long was amazing to see. Following is a very short review of mainly railway related models, most of which should be available from us when released this year. The pictures are not exceptional so I apologise in advance:
HOBBY TRADE
Hobby Trade (available through us!) were showing their new Crm DSB Litra Coaches in wine red livery with superb detail. Also a range of Interfrigo fridge cars and a range of international mixed goods wagon sets with flat cars and.
Their ADE brand has expanded with the release of the Voith diesel and ist DB 260 sister in DC and AC power.
The planned 2010 release of 2 new class 285 diesels, one in DVLE livery and one in Metronom livery are now available again in DC or ac configuration.
Most impressive are the Rheingold coaches including a restaurant car
BUSCH
Busch, one of my favourites. We saw the superb HO scale mine and mine railway based on Z gauge track arrive on Christmas Eve last year. The range is extended with two named mine locos and wagon packs. The scenic range now includes a flying stork with nest, the styork revolves around the nest on a fine wire.
There are several new etched wood buildings of extremely detailed finish plus dovecote and kennels.
In the plant range, new items include poppy plant kit, bullrushes and a farm cottage garden.
An interesting range of ready made "carnival" vehicles and floats is due for release from July onwards
